8 Day Grand tour from Tangier to Marrakech
Itinerary Program
Day 1: Tangier – Chefchaouen – Fes
From the ferry or the airport in Tangier we pick you up and start to drive through the Rif mountains and Tetouan city to enjoy the views of the beautiful mountains of Morocco till we get to Chefchaouan one of the stunning villages in the feet of Rif mountains. Chefchaouen Medina with its blue color become one of the best town to visit in Morocco, surrounded by many funky arts and crafts stores, roof-top restaurants and cafes.
After spending some hours for discovery of the beautiful town of Chefchaouen, we invite you for lunch in a local restaurant. Afterwards we continue our way to Fes via the Rif mountains and countryside…Night at Riad in Fes
Day 2 : Fes Sightseeing with a local Guide
After breakfast , you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish quarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco built during the 14th century. We will ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University considered the oldest one in the world, the Tanneries and Moulay Idriss mausoleum. After full day of exploring Fes we stay overnight in local riad (traditional Moroccan house).
Day 3 : Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Ziz Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga desert
We will pick you up from your Riad / hotel then drive south to Ifrane and Azrou through the Middle Atlas mountains. On the way we will stop at the cedar forests to see the Barbarian Apes in their natural habitat. Traveling through the Tizi N-Talghamt pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock, you’ll see views of the Middle-Atlas plateau and the scenery changing to reveal hints of the desert as you approach the city of Errachidia.
After lunch, we will continue our journey through the Ziz Valley to Erfoud, Rissani till we reach Merzouga before the sun set. Overnight stay at hotel in Merzouga.
Day 4 : 4x4 Tour to explore Erg Chebbi desert area
After having breakfast at your hotel your driver will pick up you and start your 4×4 excursion to explore all interesting sites around Erg Chebbi desert such as the berber nomad families, M’ifis fossils mines, Khamlia village where you will se the dark skin people playing their traditional Gnawa music, seasonal Dayt Serji, Oasis, panoramic veiws…after lunch we’ll head back to the hotel in Merzouga where we will start the camel ride to the camp in the middle of the Erg Chebbi Sand Dunes where you will spend the night under the starry sky of the Sahara.
Day 5 : Merzouga – Todra Gorge – Dades Valley
This morning we recommended you to awake up to contemplate one of the most beautiful sunrises you have even seen on top of dune near the camp, after having breakfast and shower at the camp you can come back either by camels or 4WD drive to the original started location where you will meet your driver and continue your journey towards Tinghir city then the Todra Gorges, one of the most famous canyon in Morocco, a walk there will be provided with an opportunity to visit a nomad family lives in a cave. By the end of the day we arrive to Dades Valley; one of the beautiful valleys in the south of Morocco where we stop for overnight.
Day 6: Dades Valley – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – High Atlas mountain – Marrakech
This morning, we’ll continue our tour towards Ouarzazate through the path of a thousand Kasbahs (fortress) stopping at Kalaat Mgouna, the center of the Valley of Roses, famous for its annual Rose Festival.
after few pictures in Ouarzazate sites we continue to the Unesco World Heritage site, the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, famous for being used as a filming location for Hollywood movies such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and for the famous HBO series Game of Thrones.
We’ll then take the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass 2260M hight to Marrakesh, where our tour ends.
Day 7 : Marrakech Sightseeing tour
Today we’ll explore the red city of Marrakesh in the hands of a local guide to discover its fascinating history through the famous Koutoubia, Bahia Palace, the Saadian Tombs and the Menara Gardens. You can eat at a typical restaurant in the medinaand the afternoon will be free to discover for yourselves the charms of this city, to walk through the streets of the medina, get lost in its immense market or savour traditional Moroccan food in the Jamaa el-Fna Square. Visiting this city means being able to observe the essence of Morocco which is always in constant change. Overnight at hotel/riad.
Day 8 : Transfer to Marrakech airport
After breakfast at your hotel, free time to explore Marrakech until the convenient time of your flight, transfer to the airport and end of your Moroccan trip with Admirable Morocco tours company.
